Nigel Farthing

Nigel joined Birketts in 1977 and qualified as a Solicitor in March 1979. He is a Partner in our Planning Team.

Having spent some years earlier in his career in the firm's property department, Nigel has a sound grounding in the technical and practical aspects of all transactional property work. He has considerable experience in traditional property litigation including commercial landlord and tenant matters, contractual disputes, possession and boundary disputes.

He has developed a particular interest in the more esoteric areas of property law particularly public rights of way and access to land, commons and village greens and easements generally.

A significant part of his practice is now devoted to advising over access issues and especially claimed public rights of way, village greens and providing representation at public inquiries.

Nigel practises out of the Ipswich office and wins client praise for his “diligence and commercial nous”. He has also been praised for his “relevant and sensible advice” and ‘“professional and commercial” understanding of clients’ needs’.
