Experience

Richard joined Birketts in August 2016 as a Senior Associate in our Private Client Advisory Team.

Richard specialises in Private Client work, and has experience acting for a range of clients from business owners, farmers, high net worth individuals, retirees and the elderly. He advises clients on a wide variety of matters including wills, the creation and administration of trusts, tax/estate planning for individuals and their families, powers of attorney, probate and Court of Protection matters.  

He is an active member of the firm’s Family Owned Business sector cross-disciplinary team, with a particular focus on succession and estate planning.

Speaking French, he also assists the firm’s Notary Public, Louise Long, and other Lawyers with matters involving France.

He is based in our Ipswich office.

He is part of the five-member content review panel of The Gazette (Official Public Record), regularly contributing to the content in this area of law to ensure quality. 

Richard graduated in French at University College London (UCL) before studying law at the College of Law (London) while working at the International Shipping Federation in London. He then trained at a large regional firm based in Cambridge (with a London and overseas office), before moving to Ipswich in 2012. He qualified as a Solicitor in September 2008.

In his spare time, Richard enjoys time with his family and his interests include walking, cycling, cricket, French and art.
