Andrew is a Solicitor in our Banking and Finance Team based in our Norwich office, working with lawyers across our corporate and real estate teams on a wide range of financing transactions.

Andrew trained at a “Magic Circle” global law firm in London and Frankfurt, including advising on the financing for substantial residential developments in the UK and Ireland, and the acquisition of commercial real estate portfolios in the UK and EU. After qualifying as a Solicitor in September 2019, Andrew worked for two years as an Associate advising on infrastructure development and corporate acquisition financings and refinancings in Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East. Andrew has experience advising financial institutions, debt and equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, governments and international development institutions on all stages of project development and financing, in relation to transactions ranging from €4.9bn to under £1m. Andrew has also advised on a number of export credit transactions both in the UK and overseas, with experience working with UK Export Finance and a number of major European ECAs.

Andrew also advised shareholders or bidders in relation to the sale or acquisition of a range of infrastructure, energy and other businesses in the UK and overseas, including in relation to listed companies in the EU and North America, and on the negotiation of commercial contracts (and associated regulatory issues) in relation to a range of energy investments in England. Andrew has been on secondment to the transaction management team at a leading European commercial lender.

Since joining Birketts in 2022 Andrew has advised on the extension of a £120m acquisition and development facility for a leading national hospitality business, as well as assisting clients in the manufacturing, energy and education sectors on financings with UK commercial lenders. 

Other Information

Andrew read Classics at Downing College, Cambridge. After graduating, Andrew worked in Westminster as an adviser to a Norfolk MP and government minister during the Coalition Government, and also served as a District Councillor in North Norfolk.
