Experience

Ben joined Birketts as a trainee in 2017, qualifying as a Solicitor into the Corporate Tax Team in September 2019.

Ben’s experience to date has included advising on mergers and acquisitions, reconstructions and demergers and employment taxation (including the taxation of employee incentive arrangements and share schemes). Ben regularly advises on the SDLT and VAT implications of property transactions and is able to assist clients with their queries relating to potential overpayments of SDLT. 

As part of his training with the firm, Ben also gained a solid grounding in our Corporate, Commercial Property, Employment and Employee Incentives practice areas by undertaking seats in each department. 

Other Information

Ben graduated with a degree in Law with American Law from the University of East Anglia in 2014. As part of his degree, Ben spent a year studying Juris Doctor modules at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. 

Following graduation, Ben completed both a master’s degree in International Commercial and Business Law from the University of East Anglia, and the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in Cambridge; achieving distinctions in both. 

Alongside his studies Ben spent time working in the financial services sector and volunteering for Norfolk Community Law Service as the Team Leader for their employment law free legal advice clinics.
