Laura joined Birketts in June 2019. She is a Senior Associate in our Private Client Advisory Team.
Prior to joining Birketts Laura was a Partner at a local firm where she headed up a team advising clients across all areas of Private Client work in Norfolk and Suffolk.
Laura was born in Norwich. After completing her undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology and Political Theory at the University of Edinburgh, Laura returned to Norfolk and worked for a number of years in the charitable sector.
Laura converted to law in 2010. She attended the University of East Anglia to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law, where she attained the highest mark in her year and won the Thompson Prize. She completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of the West of England, where she won the Salmon Burges Prize for again attaining the highest mark that year. Laura was admitted as a solicitor in 2013.
Laura undertook the hallmark Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Diploma in Trust and Estate Administration shortly after qualification. Laura was granted a STEP Excellence Award when she obtained the highest overall mark in England and Wales on completion of the diploma in 2015. She also attained a STEP Excellence Award in 2014 when she attained the highest overall mark in the Administration of Estates module.
Laura advises clients on all aspects of Private Client work including: lifetime tax and succession planning, Wills, estate administration, post-death variations for tax mitigation and other purposes, the creation and administration of trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters more broadly. Laura has a particular interest in lifetime estate planning for clients with vulnerable or disabled family members or beneficiaries for whom extra care may be required in the future.
Laura is based in our Norwich office.
