Sarah joined Birketts in November 2018. She is a Senior Associate in our Agriculture and Estates Team and is based in our Norwich office.

Sarah undertakes a range of work within the Agriculture and Estates Team acting for farmers, landowners, tenants and agri-businesses. She often works on matters relating to rural property acquisitions and disposals; advice on tenancies; secured lending and more general estate management matters, such as registrations of land, covenants, and easements. Sarah also has experience of dealing with more complex land transactions including pre-emption agreements, option agreements and overage agreements.

Since joining Birketts Sarah has been extensively involved in representing large numbers of rural landowners in the negotiation of option agreements for easements and leases relating to utilities infrastructure projects (in particular onshore cables for offshore windfarms). She has worked on both the negotiations relating to documents to be used along the whole of utilities infrastructure routes and then the negotiations for specific landowners and tenants.

Sarah regularly works together with colleagues from other teams (such as Corporate and Private Client Advisory) to assist with agricultural and property aspects of their advice or transactions.

Prior to joining Birketts Sarah worked for another local firm as a Solicitor who dealt with a mix of agricultural and commercial property matters.

Sarah studied Law at the University of East Anglia and the Legal Practice Course at the Kaplan Law School in London. She qualified as a Solicitor in September 2015.

Sarah is a fellow of the Agricultural Law Association and Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association. She is also a committee member of the YIELD Network (a networking organisation for young professionals involved in agriculture) and Stalham Farmer’s Club.

Sarah is named as an ‘Associate to Watch’ by Chambers [UK 2024]. A client in the previous edition noted “Sarah is professional and diligent.”
