Chris Coupland
Chris qualified as a Solicitor in July 2002 and joined Birketts in 2005. He is a Partner and Head of our Agriculture and Estates Team.
Chris specialises in both transactional work and the structuring of agricultural businesses. With regard to the structuring of agricultural businesses, Chris has long experience in the creation and variation of farming partnerships and succession planning and also deals with a wide range of private client work including lifetime tax planning.
On transactional matters, Chris acts in relation to sales and purchases and also for landlords and tenants in relation to agricultural tenancy issues. Chris has a particular specialisms in acting for landowners in relation to renewable energy leases and in relation to agricultural banking acting for both landowners and banks in relation to secured borrowing.
Chris is a member of the Agricultural Law Association and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Chris manages the firm’s involvement in Norfolk ProHelp, a scheme by which local firms provide professional services to charities, voluntary groups and the like, on a pro-bono basis.
Chris is based at our Norwich office.
