Helen joined Birketts in June 2020 and is a Partner in our Residential Development Team.

She has over 17 years’ worth of experience in specialising in acting for housebuilders, land promoters and a wide variety of landowners in their residential led development projects.

Her expertise includes acquisitions and disposals, drafting and negotiating complex documents such as build leases, development management agreements, promotion agreements (including hybrid option agreements), conditional sale contracts, overage and option agreements, strategic land issues, collaboration agreements, advising the residential property team on complex site set up work (including management company set up and structures) and also acting on affordable housing disposals by developers.

Helen is based in our Cambridge office.

Recent work highlights

Acting for a consortium of landowners (which included a variety of education institutions, charitable trusts and private companies) in the ongoing negotiations for the promotion and disposal of further phases of development of a site which has already seen several phases of sale complete to a PLC house builder.

Acting for a national housebuilder in connection with the acquisition of an £18m site pursuant to a contract conditional upon planning for up to 600 homes which included deferred consideration protected by a legal charge, pre-emption arrangements and overage.

Acting for trustee landowners (as majority landowner) as part of a consortium of landowners selling an £18m development site to a PLC housebuilder pursuant a conditional contract which included overage arrangements and deferred consideration protected by a legal charge in favour of her client.
