Lorna Spear

Lorna was admitted as a Solicitor in January 2004 and is a Partner in our Private Client Advisory Team. She acts for a wide range of clients including business owners, entrepreneurs and landowners in relation to wills, tax planning and probate matters. Lorna also acts for trustees and beneficiaries, advising on all aspects of trust law and the creation, management and restructuring of family trusts.
Lorna has a particular interest in disputed probate and trust matters and undertakes independent PR and trustee appointments.
Prior to joining Birketts Lorna trained at an East Anglian firm and worked in the highly regarded private client department of a London firm.
Recent experience:
- Advising trustees of a landed estate on strategies to simplify complex trust and partnership arrangements.
- Administering a farming estate and implementing a trust structure for the benefit of the next generation in the deceased’s will.
- Acting as a court appointed PR in a complex estate involving a disputed will.
- Advising trustees on a number of linked inter-generational family trusts and implementing new trust arrangements.
- Advising beneficiaries involved in a family trust dispute.
- Negotiating successful outcomes with HMRC in a deceased’s estate on the availability of agricultural property relief and business property relief.
