Nick Pickersgill
- Experience
Nick was admitted as a Solicitor in October 1993 and joined Birketts in February 2015. He is a Partner in our Commercial Real Estate Team. He is also a key member of our Real Estate Finance Team, which comprises property and finance lawyers acting on property backed transactions, and part of the Independent Healthcare Team, a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to providing strategic advice to independent healthcare providers, where he deals with the aquisition and funding of care homes and similar facilities.
Nick’s experience covers all aspects of commercial property transactions with a particular focus on Corporate Real Estate and Real Estate Finance. He supports the firm’s Corporate and Banking teams on their M&A and finance related transactions which involve a commercial property element, and regularly advises on secured lending matters for most of the main high street lenders, whether acting for the bank alone, or for the bank and their borrower jointly. Birketts is on the legal panel of most mainstream lenders and has a very strong network of relationships with key business developers in the Cambridgeshire region and beyond.
Nick also has a significant practice in the acquisition and funding of park home and caravan sites, having acted on transactions over the past two years with a combined value in excess of £500m. These have involved single and multi property deals, as well as substantial portfolio acquisitions and refinancings requiring preparation and negotiation of CLLS Certificates of Title.
Nick’s role requires extensive collaboration with our Corporate and Banking, Planning and Construction teams – as well as others, throughout Birketts, and he regularly leads and coordinates the management of teams of Birketts lawyers engaged on ongoing projects. Together the teams are able to provide a seamless service to clients on complex and time sensitive transactions and Birketts has a number of niche specialists who can provide very detailed advice on unusual and/or complicated matters. His extensive sector knowledge and experience enables him to project manage large transactions, coordinating the input of other third party professionals in ensuring projects are delivered effectively.
Nick understands the importance of delivering work on time and on budget and is very commercially focused. His practical approach to transactions and advice on technical legal detail in straightforward, understandable terms, is highly valued by his clients.
Nick is based at our Cambridge office.
Nick is recommended by Legal 500 [UK 2019]. In previous editions he is noted as a “standout figure”.
