
Pamela is a Legal Director in our Shipping and International Trade Team.
She joined Birketts in May 2014 having previous corporate experience at Herbert Smith (now Herbert Smith Freehills).
Pamela deals with all aspects of contentious shipping and international trade disputes, including charterparty disputes, cargo claims and international sales contracts. She has particular experience with under-performance claims relating to the speed and consumption of ships.
She acts for owners, charterers, cargo interests, insurers, transport companies, inspection companies and international trading companies and has experience of both LMAA and LCIA arbitration proceedings, including handling LMAA and LCIA hearings in London. Pamela also has experience of English High Court proceedings, including at trial and with applications for anti-suit injunctions.
A graduate of the University of Cambridge, Pamela has also previously lectured business law part-time at the Business School of University Campus Suffolk (now the University of Suffolk). Pamela is based in our Ipswich office.
Recent work highlights
Acting for an international inspection company in relation to the rejection of a cargo of rice worth US$ 8m at West African ports following weight and quality discrepancies.
Acting for cargo interests in JB Cocoa SDN BHD & others v Maersk A/S [2023] EWHC 2203 (Comm).
