Administration of Estates

Few people are aware that it is possible to vary the dispositions of a person’s estate following his or her death. We can advise on and draft such variations.

Administration of Estates

Once the Grant of Probate has been obtained, the personal representatives (the persons named in the grant) need to deal with the administration of the estate.

This includes the collection of estate assets, payment of liabilities and the distribution to beneficiaries. Our Private Client Advisory Team here at Birketts can ease the burden by managing all of this for you, as well as preparing full estate accounts.

We can even arrange for statutory notices to be placed in appropriate publications in order to protect the personal representatives against personal liability in respect of unknown liabilities.

HMRC will need to be contacted in respect of any tax issues which may arise during the course of the estate administration and we are happy to liaise with them on your behalf and make the appropriate payments or claim reliefs where available.

Few people are aware that it is possible to vary the dispositions of a person’s estate following his or her death. We can advise on and draft such variations which may result in the saving of thousands of pounds worth of Inheritance Tax that may otherwise have been due.
