Corinne qualified as a Solicitor in September 2013 and joined Birketts in September 2015. She is a Senior Associate in our Corporate Team.

Corinne has experience in a full range of corporate and commercial areas, advising clients on matters such as company formations and group restructures, company mergers, acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, finance matters, general company law issues and commercial contracts.

Although Corinne’s knowledge and experience is broad, Corinne tends to specialise in corporate transactional work, regularly advising both buyer and seller clients on the merger, acquisition and disposal of their businesses. Corinne has worked on many transactions spanning a wide range of business sectors and acts for a variety of client extending from small, family-owned, businesses to large, international, corporates in both the private and public sectors. As such, Corinne is equipped with the knowledge and experience necessary to give her clients valuable, practical advice tailored to their specific requirements, and enjoys learning about the particular nature, character and quirks of her clients’ businesses as she works on transactions with them in order to drill down into the key issues for them as individuals.

One of Corinne’s more complex transactions includes acting for a client purchaser who acquired a specialist human resources consultancy business from over 100 different individual sellers, and which had subsidiary companies across 13 different jurisdictions, worldwide. Corinne’s knowledge of international issues and requirements, organisational skills and ability to work well under pressure were key to finalising the deal and the client’s comments after completion were that Corinne and the team’s “knowledgeability and client service throughout the process was second to none”.

Alongside corporate transactional work, Corinne often helps clients to reorganise their businesses and has recently completed a capital reduction demerger for one of her clients, working closely with the client’s financial advisors to offer tax efficient, straightforward, advice in what can be a complex area of law. Again, requiring Corinne to be organised, practical and provide clarity in her advice around difficult and complex issues relating to both the deal itself and future plans for the business.

Corinne also has experience working with charities and other not for profit organisations and assists the firm’s Charities Team, advising charities and similar organisations on their constitutional, governance and operational requirements.

Corinne is based in our Cambridge office.

Before training as a Solicitor, Corinne spent time spent working for IBM which has allowed her to develop a personal understanding and awareness of the commercial market and ability to offer pragmatic and practical solutions to her clients.

In her spare time, Corinne enjoys spending time with her young daughter who is already giving Corinne a run for her money with her negotiating skills.

Corinne is recommended by Legal 500 [UK 2019].
