David Upton

David joined Birketts as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2023. He is currently in his first seat in the SIPP/SSASs Property Team in the Ipswich office.

Prior to joining Birketts, David studied English and Theatre at the University of Sheffield where he was awarded a 2:1 degree. David then helped launch Star Wing Brewery in Suffolk, which he subsequently ran for six years.

After leaving Star Wing, David returned to education to study a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) at the University of Law, which he passed with Distinction. He has since completed a Masters in Law, with electives in Employment Law, Family Law and Advanced Real Estate, as well as the SQE 1&2. David passed the SQE1 on his first attempt scoring in the top quintile of his cohort. He is awaiting his results for the SQE2 and the Masters in Law.

In his spare time, David enjoys writing fiction, walking his dogs and going to the theatre.
