Steven Bell
- Experience
Steven joined Birketts in March 2018 and is a Senior Associate in our Planning and Environmental Team. He qualified as a Solicitor in January 2006 and prior to that was a qualified Legal Executive. Steven gained his Higher Rights of Audience in June 2021.
He has over ten years’ experience specialising in planning and environmental law and prior to that nine years in litigation. His areas of expertise include advising on complex planning matters (including judicial reviews and major planning enforcement inquiries); compulsory purchase; flood and water management and the Highways Act. He has been Monitoring Officer for the Broads Authority and has a great deal of experience in local government including dealing and being legal advisor on Planning Committees (Nationally).
Steven also works closely with our Social Housing Team. He is highly experienced in advising clients on planning, enforcement, drafting s.106 Agreements, public rights of way, and common land.
Steven has worked on large-scale projects (including nationally significant infrastructure projects), and in November 2014 was part of the team that won the Lawyers in Local Government (LLG) Award in Planning, Highways and Environment.
Steven also has extensive experience in preparing training for clients, and has written a number of articles for online publications including Local Government Lawyer.
Steven is based in our Norwich office.
