Birketts’ banking and finance team has expanded with the appointment of three new team members.
Joining the firm’s growing Bristol office are Senior Associate, Gavin Williams, and Associate Ellie Wickham, as well as Josephine Bell who has joined the Chelmsford office as an Isle of Man qualified Advocate, who together take the size of the banking and finance team at Birketts to 17 people.
Gavin Williams has a particular focus on energy and infrastructure project finance. He advises both lenders and borrowers on an extensive range of finance transactions and has significant experience in real estate development and investment finance, together with corporate lending and acquisition finance.
Ellie Wickham advises on a broad range of financing transactions, acting for lenders, borrowers, and sponsors across syndicated and bilateral lending, real estate finance, acquisition finance, and general corporate lending.
In addition, Senior Associate Kathryn Palmer, who is based in the Cambridge office, has returned from maternity leave. Both Josephine and Kathryn have experience advising both lenders and borrowers on general corporate lending and finance transactions (in particular real-estate finance).
On the team’s expansion, Partner and Head of Banking and Finance, Alex Schaafsma, said: “I am excited to welcome Gavin, Ellie and Jo to our expanding specialist banking and finance team. Gavin and Ellie will play an important role in the growth of our specialism in the South West. Their appointment, along with the arrival of Jo and return of Kathryn, means that our team’s expertise now covers an increasingly wide range of industry sectors on a variety of financial products and services.”
