Birketts has advised Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity (FNHC) on its successful merger with South Bucks Hospice, a strategic move that strengthens the provision of hospice care across Buckinghamshire.
The merger was structured as an asset transfer, with all operations of South Bucks Hospice – including the Butterfly House out-patient premises in High Wycombe and a portfolio of retail shops – transferring to FNHC.
Birketts provided comprehensive legal support throughout the process. Jen Marley (Senior Associate, Charities) led the team advising FNHC and was supported by Kye Strowbridge (Solicitor, Charities).
The Birketts team advising on the merger also included: Louisa Saunders (Legal Director, Charity Property), supported by Harriet Celerier (Solicitor, Charity Property) and Kellen Webber (Trainee Solicitor, Charity Property) on the property aspects; Samantha Cass (Senior Associate, Employment) and Jennifer Leeder (Partner, Employment) on employment matters; and Ed Bouckley (Senior Associate, Commercial and Technology) on commercial arrangements.
Commenting on the deal, Jen Marley said: “We are delighted to have advised Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity on its recent merger with South Bucks Hospice. The merger is the culmination of many months of work from both charities and will help to secure the provision of hospice services in Buckinghamshire for the future. We wish Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity all the very best as it moves forward in this exciting new chapter.”
Jo Turner, Chief Executive of Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, added: “This merger marks a significant milestone in our mission to deliver high-quality, compassionate hospice care across Buckinghamshire. By joining forces, we can extend our reach and ensure the long-term sustainability of our services. We are grateful to Birketts for their expert guidance throughout this process and look forward to building on this strong foundation.”
