Andrew Ridout joined Birketts in September 2011 and is a Legal Director in our commercial real estate team. He acts for a variety of corporate and private clients based both locally and nationally, ranging from landlords and tenants to banks and other funders and investors helping with acquisitions, disposals, refinancing and asset management. Andrew also advises on the property portfolios of several regional property investors, high street retailers and restaurateurs.
Andrew also regularly advises on secured lending matters for most of the main high street lenders, whether acting for the bank alone, or for the bank and their borrower jointly.
Andrew supports the firm’s corporate teams on their M&A transactions which involve a commercial real estate element.
Andrew has always had an interest in gadgets and technology, and this supports his role as his team’s ‘Tech Ambassador’, helping to drive forward the firm’s ambitious plans to install, adopt and use the latest technologies and software to realise efficiencies and deliver a reliable and consistent service to our clients. Andrew is also a member of the Eastern Regional Board for LandAid, the charity of the property industry.

Advised a landowner on the entry of an option agreement over development land with a minimum sale value of £5m.
Advised the seller on a £3m sale and leaseback of their business premises.
Advised a borrower on the £1.6m refinance of their real estate portfolio.
