Birketts has advised leading property consultancy practice, Concertus, on successfully setting up a joint venture with Derbyshire County Council to expand its business to a second office location in Matlock, Derbyshire. Derbyshire County Council were keen to recreate Concertus’ public sector consultancy successes in the region.
Formed in 2013 following the divestment of Suffolk County Council’s corporate property division, Concertus is a multi-discipline practice delivering property expertise in the East Anglian region and beyond. Concertus provides a full range of innovative property and construction solutions services including energy design, architecture and interior design, quantity surveying and project management.
It is hoped that establishing a second office location will enable Concertus to geographically diversify its client base and extend its project reach.
The deal was led by Claire Jones (Public Sector) with assistance from Laura Gray (Corporate) and Amy Guest (Employment).
Andrew Rowe, Managing Director at Concertus, commented on the expansion: “Over the last few years Concertus has worked on a vast number of projects across the UK, including London. Our growth has been swift but organic and gaining a second office location is the first part of a strategy designed to increase our team and boost our reach nationally. As we celebrate our seventh year of business, we hope this step will enable us to continue to deliver the high quality design and property services we have become known for. We could not have made this vital step without the commercial insight, legal guidance and stellar client service provided by Birketts’ team.”
Ruth Neave, Legal Director and Head of Birketts’ Public Sector Team concluded: “We were delighted to support Concertus as they sought to implement the next stage of their strategic programme. As always, the Public Sector team remained acutely aware of the need to prioritise commercial efficiency throughout the process and we were delighted to play a part in helping Concertus broaden its reach, grow new business relationships and increase their service offering.”
