
George joined Birketts as a Graduate Solicitor Apprentice in July 2022 and qualified as a Solicitor with our Shipping and International Trade Team in June 2025. He is based at our Ipswich and Norwich offices.
George works with our Shipping and International Team where he advises on a broad range of contentious dry shipping matters and international trade disputes, including charterparty disputes and cargo claims. He acts for ship-owners, charterers, cargo interests, insurers, P&I Clubs, and freight forwarders, and also provides advice on non-contentious matters, such as the drafting and negotiation of freight forwarding and other logistics agreements. George has been involved in matters in both the High Court and in arbitration proceedings.
George graduated with a 1:1 in Geography from Royal Holloway University of London, achieving an upper 1st class dissertation on the impacts of Brexit and the Covid-19 Pandemic on Global supply chains. In 2021 George subsequently undertook the Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of East Anglia; Graduating in 2022 with a 2:1 completing his dissertation on a comparison of international maritime arbitration rules.
George subsequently completed the Level 7 Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship at the University of Law in London.

Advising claimant Ship-owners on a breach of warranty claim exceeding £10m against the sellers of a vessel.
