
Samantha joined Birketts in January 2020 and is a Senior Associate in the Employment Team, based in the Ipswich office.
She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in employment law. Sam assists both employees and employers on all aspects of employment law which means that she is able to understand both sides’ strategies and provide more informed advice to both sides.
Sam is passionate about assisting senior employees on exit strategies including where there are complex share schemes and long-term incentive plans in place and often achieves great results in increasing exit packages and protecting the parties’ respective reputations. As part of this, Sam specialises in advising senior level individuals on various employment issues, data subject access requests, including multi-faceted settlement negotiations, complex grievances and disciplinaries and Employment Tribunal claims. Sam uses all strategic avenues to ensure the optimum result for her clients. Sam receives excellent feedback and recommendations from individuals who comment on her support and dedication in challenging work situations.
Additionally, Sam assists a variety of employers from small family-owned farming businesses through to large technology corporations with the full array of employee relations issues and provides comprehensive advice on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious issues. She offers strategic, tailored solutions, from drafting employment contract and policy documentation to managing difficult disputes. Sam seeks to ensure that the risks to businesses are minimised and strives to achieve practical and commercial solutions.
She works for clients in various sectors but has particular interest and expertise in working for employers in the agricultural sector and is part of the agricultural, landed estates and equine sector teams. In addition, Sam has expertise in the education sector and has acted as an experienced legal adviser to professional conduct panels of the Teaching Regulation Agency for several years.
