Birketts advises on sale of Southwold Pier

UK Top 50 law firm, Birketts, has advised Curious Pier Limited (part of Gough Hotels, a Suffolk owned family business) on the business sale of Southwold Pier to Amy and Charles Barwick.
Southwold Pier is an iconic seaside landmark and attraction in Suffolk. The Pier, which attracts thousands of tourists to the area every year, is home to an arcade, several eateries and gift shops. .
The new owners, who are a husband-and-wife team, plan to operate the pier as ‘business as usual’ in the short-term,. however, the couple have exciting longer term investment plans for the attraction, with a strong vision to make the pier an even greater draw for Southwold.
The Birketts team was led by Alexandra Nelson (Partner, Corporate) and Emma Bysouth (Senior Associate, Corporate), supported by Lucy Easey (Solicitor, Corporate), Samantha Cass (Senior Associate, Employment), Stacy Aspden (Legal Director, Property) and Robbie Watson (Senior Associate, Corporate Tax).
