Stacy Aspden
- Experience
Stacy joined Birketts in January 2015 and is a Legal Director in our Commercial Real Estate Team, based in our Ipswich office. She has over 15 years’ experience of commercial property transactions and enjoys the broad spectrum of transactions that a busy commercial property team are involved in. Stacy specialises in landlord and tenant transactions, primarily acting for occupational tenants, but uses the knowledge of what is important to a tenant to advise landlords, enabling practical input into negotiations and assisting in achieving solutions satisfactory for both parties.
Dovetailing with this specialism, Stacy is also significantly involved in corporate acquisitions, disposals and investment arrangements. She is the lead contact for corporate support transactions, working closely with our corporate teams and is often involved in reviews of property portfolios, advising on property liabilities and working with clients to create a property strategy as well as resolving issues arising. Stacy prides herself in providing pertinent advice often against pressing timeframes. She is praised for her straight forward approach and reliability.
Most recently Stacy has been involved in a number of projects for public sector based clients, using her experience to advise on multi-million pound acquisitions for both investment and redevelopment purposes. Such transactions often involve construction, planning and environmental elements as well as conditional arrangements, phasing and overage.
Work highlights include:
- acting on the purchase of several existing and multi-occupied retail centres and office hubs;
- advising a trust on a multi-million conditional disposal of land to enable residential development; and
- advising and co-ordinating the transfer of over 15 leasehold premises for a tenant as part of their incorporation into a LLP.
Stacy qualified locally in September 2005 and spent eight years at regional office of an international law firm where she was heavily involved in the motor trade and education sectors. Her previous experience includes a corporate acquisition of over 30 separate properties connected with car retail; negotiation of commercial lettings including both office and warehouse use; the development of new facilities at an East Anglian college campus involving a building agreement with funding arrangements with the local authority; and estate management work at a sensitive defence location.
