Emma Bysouth

Emma qualified in March 2016. She is a Senior Associate in our Corporate Team in the Ipswich office.

Emma advises on a full range of legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions, group restructurings, banking matters, general company law issues and commercial contracts. Emma has a particular focus on corporate transactional work, regularly advising clients on the acquisition and disposal of businesses. She has also gained significant experience on working on large international transactions.

Emma has particular experience in the aerospace and defence industry having worked in the UK legal department of a multinational company, which had a worldwide customer base operating in the civil and military markets, prior to joining Birketts.

Emma is recommended and named as a ‘Rising Star’ by Legal 500 [UK 2024]. Clients in a previous edition say “Particular mention to Mark Henry and Emma Bysouth whose tenacity and attention to detail were first-class. Emma enjoys developing her professional network in Ipswich area sitting on the committee for Ipswich Junior Chamber (IJC) and the board of the Financial Insurance and Professional Services Group (FIPS) for Ipswich. In 2018, Emma launched, with Rhiannon Russell and Jessica Withey, a new young professionals group in Ipswich called IP1 Network.
