Adam is a Senior Associate in our Dispute Resolution Team. He qualified as a Solicitor in September 2009 and has over a decade of experience in advising corporate, charitable, and private clients on a wide range of contentious matters in both the County and High Courts. Adam is a strong advocate of the use of mediation in facilitating settlement where appropriate, and is also well versed in other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution, including expert determination.

Adam’s work includes advising on contract claims, shareholder and director disputes, breaches of restrictive covenants and professional negligence claims. Recent cases include:

  • Successful negotiation and settlement of a long-running c. £20m shareholder and franchise dispute, including allegations of unfair prejudice and contractual breaches;
  • Defence and successful settlement of a factually and legally complex c. £5m breach of warranty and misrepresentation claim;
  • Advising on a c. US$450k cross-border claim against a US-listed company in relation to engineering works in the Far East;
  • Successful prosecution of a claim to the Financial Ombudsman Service, securing payment of a £250k terminal illness benefit that had been denied by the insurer, together with a written apology and c. £30k in interest and further compensation;
  • Acting for claimants in a High Court multi-party breach of trust claim regarding a trust fund of c. £3.5m;
  • Acting for defendant in c. £4.4m multi-jurisdictional breach of contract claim;
  • Securing an injunction preventing a former employee of a local family-run business from working in contravention of their restrictive covenants;
  • Negotiating favourable settlement in a ‘loss of chance’ professional negligence claim against a firm of solicitors (acting for individual claimant);
  • Defending a claim for breach of warranty following a business sale, resulting in the claim being withdrawn in its entirety.

Adam also advises clients in relation to contentious trusts and probate claims, including claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, challenges to the validity of Wills on grounds of undue influence, capacity and lack of knowledge and approval and breaches of Trustees’ duties.

Adam is based at our Norwich office.

Adam has volunteered as a Solicitor Advisor at Norfolk Community Law Service since July 2015, providing pro bono legal advice to members of the public.

In his spare time Adam enjoys travel, photography, and following the fluctuating travails of the England Cricket Team.

Adam is recommended by Legal 500 [UK 2021].
