Before qualifying in April 2013 Catherine completed her training contract with a regional firm and gained significant post-qualification experience in their employment team.
Catherine’s primary focus is on advising employers (respondents) on both contentious and non-contentious matters including areas related to, for example: employment contracts, policies and procedures, disciplinaries, grievances and dismissals, employment tribunal procedure, restructures and redundancy programmes, settlement agreements, Trade Union recognition and disputes, TUPE and other regulatory matters.
Catherine also advises individuals (claimants) including company directors, having experience representing several claimants in Tribunal (including undertaking advocacy) as well as regularly advising on agreed exits via settlement agreements.
Originally from Barnsley, Catherine studied at the University of East Anglia from which she graduated with a 2.1 degree in Law in 2006. Catherine went on to study the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in Leeds and then returned to Norwich for her training after spending three years as an employment Paralegal at a Rotherham-based firm. She has recently obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Employment Law.
Outside of work, Catherine has a keen interest in art and enjoys painting as a hobby. She enjoys most sports and since returning to Norwich has taken up cycling.
Catherine also volunteers for the Norfolk Community Law Service and the Citizens Advice Bureau, providing pro-bono employment advice to individuals.
