  • Experience

Maisie joined Birketts in 2018 after graduating from Newcastle University, where she studied Law. Maisie’s first role at the firm was in Real Estate Finance, where she managed a large caseload of secured lending transactions for a UK banking group. As a result of her work in this team, Maisie secured a Training Contract with the firm. She subsequently completed her LPC with Masters (LPC LLM), completing electives in Corporate Finance, Private Acquisitions and Advanced Commercial Property, and received a distinction.

Maisie returned to Birketts after her LPC LLM to formally commence her Training Contract. Maisie’s training seats included Corporate, where she assisted with a range of transactions including share acquisitions and disposals, group restructurings, management buy-outs and an IPO, and Banking & Finance, where she worked on a complex secured term loan facility extension and advised a UK subsidiary in respect of a US credit facility.

Maisie qualified as a solicitor in March 2023 and continues her career in Birketts’ Banking & Finance Team. Maisie regularly advises both borrowers and lenders on acquisition finance and real estate finance transactions, and has recent experience acting for a borrower on an Islamic refinance.

Maisie has a particular interest in sustainable finance (including sustainability-linked loans and green loans), so hopes to gain more experience in this area in the near future.

Outside of work, Maisie likes to keep active by running and playing netball. She recently completed the Norwich Half Marathon and now has her sights set on a full marathon. Maisie enjoys the vibrant art and culture scene in Norwich, as well as the excellent offering of independent restaurants.

During her time at BPP, Maisie volunteered as a Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador. In this role, she took part in various initiatives (including hosting a podcast and book club) to promote equality and tackle discrimination in the legal profession.
