Following on from the last round of angel investments in 2020, Birketts has advised Cambridge-based Zedify, the electric cargo bike delivery network, in its latest investment of £5 million.
Led by Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital and MEIF Proof of Concept & Early Stage Fund, which is managed by Mercia and part of the Midlands Engine Investment Fund, with participation from existing investor Green Angel Syndicate, the funding will power the brands UK growth.
Zedify was founded in 2018 to offer a sustainable, greener delivery solution. Working in partnership with leading national delivery firms, retailers and regional and local businesses, it currently operates its zero emissions service in 10 UK cities. The latest funding will enable the brand to expand to new locations and create more jobs.
The Birketts team was led by Partner Ed Savory (Corporate) and was supported by Macauley Alsford (Corporate), Sam Varney (Corporate), Emily Seago, Kye Strowbridge (Corporate) and Lorraine Porter (Corporate).
On the investment round, Ed Savory said: “I have had the privilege of working with Rob, Sam and the team at Zedify for many years. Rob and Sam have such vision pioneering change in the logistics sector for the benefit of our environment. They also go about their work with panache and energy. It is special to have supported them on this latest round of fundraising which could provide the springboard from which Zedify booms.”
Rob King, Founder and CEO of Zedify commented: “It was, as always, an absolute pleasure to work with the Birketts team on this deal, with easy communications and first class advice. Many thanks Ed and Macauley!”
