Maisie is a Solicitor in the Banking and Finance Team at Birketts. She advises lenders and borrowers on various banking and finance transactions, including leveraged finance transactions, acquisition finance transactions, real estate finance transactions, Islamic finance transactions and general corporate lending.
She acts for a range of clients across different industry sectors, including banks and other financial institutions (including alternative lenders), private equity-backed businesses, registered companies and individuals.
As a member of the Banking and Green Finance Team which forms part of the wider Natural Capital Sector Team, Maisie has developed an understanding of the issues faced by our clients in today’s challenging financial environment, including the push towards a greener economy and the associated pressures on both borrowers and lenders to demonstrate tangible, measurable green credentials.
Maisie is testament to Birketts’ commitment to developing and retaining talent. Maisie joined Birketts’ as a Paralegal (Real Estate Finance) in 2018 after graduating with a Law degree from Newcastle University. After securing a Training Contract with the firm, Maisie was sponsored to complete the LPC LLM (electives in Corporate Finance, Private Acquisitions and Advanced Commercial Property), in which she achieved a distinction. On returning to Birketts, Maisie completed training seats including Corporate, where she assisted with a variety of transactions including share acquisitions and disposals, group restructurings, management buy-outs and an IPO, and Banking and Finance, where she worked on a complex secured term loan facility extension and advised a UK subsidiary in respect of a US credit facility.
Outside of work, Maisie likes to keep active by running and playing netball. She recently completed the Norwich Half Marathon and now has her sights set on a full marathon. Maisie enjoys the vibrant art and culture scene in Norwich, as well as the excellent offering of independent restaurants.
During her time at BPP, Maisie volunteered as a Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador. In this role, she took part in various initiatives (including hosting a podcast and book club) to promote equality and tackle discrimination in the legal profession.
