Birketts’ Class of 2020
September 8, 2020

Birketts has announced the appointment of 15 new trainee solicitors.

After another multi-award winning year , including a nomination for best trainer at the LawCareers.Net Training and Recruitment Awards, the firm is delighted to welcome another collection of talented lawyers to take their seats across the Cambridge, Chelmsford, Ipswich and Norwich offices. With the retention rate for last year’s trainees totalling an impressive 12 out of 14, such figures are not only a testament to the quality of Birketts’ supportive and inclusive programme but an attractive indicator to this year’s cohort.

September sees the new trainees take their first seats as follows: Peter Bartholomew
(Private Client Advisory), Amy Bradburne (Banking and Finance), Emily Broadrick (Commercial Property), Eleanor Bullen-Bell (Corporate), Harriet Celerier (Commercial Property SIPPs), Chay Clark (Public Sector), Nicole Clifford (Commercial Property), Ian Crowe (Commercial Property), Oliver Heeks (Agriculture), Georgia Hunt (Agriculture), Sarah Lester (Construction), Jessica Murfitt (Private Client Advisory), Michael Playford (Commerical Property), Molly Reeves (Residential Development) and Elliot Wotton (Commercial Property).

Jonathan Agar, Chief Executive Officer for Birketts, said: “Despite the challenges thrown up by the pandemic, through the hard work and determination of our colleagues, this has been another very successful period for the firm. At Birketts, we are proud to invest in our trainees and believe that our retention rate is reflective of our forward-looking ethos and market-leading training programme. Now more than ever, we appreciate that the strength of the firm lies in the quality of its employees and I have no doubt that this year’s trainee intake will play a vital part in the growth of Birketts’ innovative culture. With Birketts securing a host of award wins this year, including ‘Law Firm of the Year’ at the Modern Law Awards 2020 and formalising its London merger, this is an exciting moment for our new recruits to be joining the firm and we welcome them warmly.”

Shaun Savory, Human Resources Director at Birketts, added: “Developing talent from within is something that the firm considers to be a priority. As always, Birketts is pleased to give talented trainees the opportunity to hone their legal skills and find the practice area that will hopefully set them on the path to a successful legal career. Each trainee will spend six months in four different ‘seats’ where they will develop technical and commercial skills working alongside senior lawyers and clients.”
